Your child may be experiencing big emotions they don’t know how to express yet. Anxiety, sadness, or difficult experiences can show up as meltdowns, school withdrawal, or struggles with everyday challenges. You want support from someone who understands your child’s unique needs and recognizes the deeper meaning behind their behaviors.
Hi, I’m Lauren! As a licensed master social worker (LMSW), I have a passion for helping children understand how to express their emotions in a healthy manner. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Central Florida and my bachelor’s degree in Education Sciences from the University of Florida. My educational background provides a foundation in social work, child development, and the education system, allowing me to better understand the academic, emotional, and social factors that influence children’s well-being.
My therapeutic approach:
Child-centered care: Connection comes first- creating a safe, supportive environment where children and teens feel heard, accepted, and understood.
Emotional Regulation: Supporting children in understanding their emotions, communication style and managing outbursts
Trauma-Informed Care: Understanding how difficult experiences impact our emotions and behaviors utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and play-therapy based interventions.
Strengthen everyday problem-solving skills: Develop flexible thinking and build independence in navigating challenges
Caregiver collaboration: Partnering with caregivers to strengthen relationships and encourage consistency beyond the therapy office
What makes me different:
My experience as a nanny, grief and loss counselor, and school counselor has shaped my compassionate, holistic approach to therapy. I believe behavior is a form of communication, often expressing emotions and needs that are difficult to put into words. Each of these roles have taught me to look beyond behavior, understand developmental needs, navigate life transitions, and support children through grief, change, and emotional challenges. I aim to help children make sense of their experiences, feel empowered in their growth, and develop the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
Specialized support for:
“Children make sense of the world with the tools they have, not always the words they need. Thank you for entrusting me with helping your child find their voice”.
