Julia is an Associate Professional Counselor who holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University at Albany in New York. Julia has a deep passion for helping individuals of all ages navigate the complexities of life. Julia’s heart has always gravitated towards children and adolescents, and she takes immense joy in guiding them through the challenges that come with growing up in today’s world. She works to create a safe and supportive environment where young clients can explore their feelings, build resilience, and develop essential life skills. She also enjoys working with adult clients, recognizing that self-esteem and self-love are universal needs that transcend age.
Julia’s journey in the field of mental health includes valuable experience gained from working in an inpatient substance use disorder facility. As a counselor in this fast-paced setting, she honed her skills in working with diverse populations. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, and evidence-based techniques. She believes that by fostering a genuine and trusting therapeutic relationship, clients can explore their inner strengths and embark on a journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. Julia utilizes Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Play Therapy, Strength-Based, and Motivational Interviewing during her sessions. Her focus areas include working with anxiety, ADHD, substance abuse/addiction, ASD, BPD, depression, and perfectionism.
Julia is currently an associate professional counselor working under the direction and supervision of Jessica Hallam Anderson, MS, LPC, CPCS, RPT-S.
