Jess May Counseling Intern

Bio

Jess’s goal in therapy is to help clients grow and connect with their most authentic selves. They are passionate about working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions. As a queer and nonbinary person, Jess is uniquely tuned into the needs of gender expansive individuals and enjoys working with LGBTQ+ people.

Jess is a student at the University of Central Florida’s online Master of Social Work program, which is preparing them to provide support for clients from diverse backgrounds with a variety of mental health needs. After graduation, they plan to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Jess previously studied at Kennesaw State University, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Drawing and Painting. Previously, they interned at Kate’s Club, a community nonprofit for children, teens, their families, and young adults who have experienced the death of someone close to them.

Jess is currently taking classes and participating in practicum at our facility under the supervision and direction of Katie Landers, LPC, ATR. During their time here, Jess is eager to develop their therapeutic style and become confident in their abilities while learning as much as possible.
