Julia Nailor sees clients for in-person therapy sessions at the Woodstock location, and offers telehealth therapy sessions.

Bio

Julia Nailor is passionate about supporting adolescents (12 & up) and adults as they navigate the various challenges and transitional periods that life has to offer. She strives to create a client-centered space that embraces each individual’s short term and long-term goals, unique stage of change, and personal strengths. Julia commonly works with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, mood dysregulation, interpersonal conflict, and academic stress.

Julia graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master of Social Work and is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia. She typically approaches treatment from a Dialectical Behavior Therapy Informed (DBT) perspective and specializes in seeing clients who identify as LGBTQ+.

DBT-informed counseling refers to therapy that incorporates principles or skills from DBT without following the full DBT model. During sessions, Julia incorporates dialectical behavioral therapy principles and core skills (such as mindfulness or distress tolerance) or uses DBT techniques within the context of broader therapy work, in a flexible and personalized approach to meet an individual’s treatment need rather than moving through specific stages. With this approach, only the methods that are most needed are used, but DBT-informed treatment doesn’t include all structured components of full DBT. The format is different, but 1:1 skills training can be effective for clients that aren’t a good fit for DBT group.
