Elizabeth (Libby) Brown Master’s Level Pre-Licensed Therapist

Bio

Libby is a Master’s Level Pre-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a member of AAMFT. She is strongly invested in the growth of her clients by providing support and useful tools. Libby utilizes a client-centered approach to work towards the clients’ goals in a more individualized way. She has worked with diverse populations such as various ages, ethnicities. and backgrounds as a therapist. With the experience of working with clients diagnosed with depression, suicidal ideation, bipolar, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, dysregulation mood disorder (DMD), and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), self-esteem challenges, grief, anxiety, and Autism (ASD), Libby tends to use mindfulness techniques, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, collaborative therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and different activities to engage with clients and provide beneficial tools. She also strongly believes in including the support system (parents and siblings) for family work as well when working with minors. With this, she leans towards Bowenian approaches, psychoeducation, and structural family therapy. Libby also has experience working with couples, at which she mostly uses Gottman Method and Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT).

She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology, a minor in Business Administration, and a certificate in Juvenile Justice & Rehabilitation in 2019 from the University of West Georgia. In 2023, Libby attained her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University with a 3.87 GPA. She has been providing mental health services since 2022 and has a background in ABA therapy, as she has worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with children diagnosed with Autism.

Libby is a very bubbly, creative, and kind person. She is great at providing validation and understanding throughout the therapeutic process also with having an artistic and creative approach to therapy. She has a passion for giving back to her community and takes pride in building rapport with clients. As Libby is working towards her LAMFT licensure, she plans to eventually grow in the areas of, and get certified in, American Sign Language (ASL), play therapy, and Trauma Focused CBT (tf-CBT).
